State Chair Volunteer Application
This position is volunteer and fully remote.
Though no time requirements have been set, current state chairs report 2-10 hours per month in the role.

OPPORTUNITY

The State Chair serves as the primary spokesperson for their state’s chapter of the NCSA National Grassroots Network (NGN) – elevating NCSA’s mission, amplifying its impact, engaging with the community, and advancing advocacy efforts. This position is integral in assisting NCSA with volunteer engagement and will work collaboratively with other state chairs under the direction of the NCSA Policy Director. State Chairs also serve as voting members of the NCSA Policy Committee submitting formal recommendations to the NCSA Board of Directors on a quarterly basis. 

SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES 
  • Be knowledgeable of NCSA position statements and current policy priorities to accurately represent NCSA’s mission and advocacy efforts
  • Direct the activities, plans, and objectives of the state chapter
  • Admin the state chapter Facebook group
  • Cultivate active engagement and participation of general membership
  • Coordinate and report state-specific initiatives and priorities to NCSA
  • Engage with NGN members within specific congressional districts as needed by NCSA
  • May organize state chapter to fit needs as it grows, i.e. appoint state chapter leadership roles and/or form relevant committees
  • Join monthly virtual meeting with other state chairs (1st Monday of the month)
  • Join quarterly virtual meeting with NCSA Policy Committee (Feb, May, Aug, Nov)
IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Passion for improving the quality of life for inviduals, families, and caregivers affected by severe forms of autism and related disorders
  • Basic skills with Google Drive, Zoom, email, and Facebook
  • Professionalism in written and spoken communication
